Qua gemiste toeristische marketing kan het volgende wel tellen. Wist je dat de makers van de wereldberoemde serie Game of Thrones het Kasteel van Beersel wilden gebruiken voor opnames ter promotie van een nieuw seizoen. De gemeente Beersel kreeg hiervoor een officiële aanvraag, maar moest die weigeren nadat de brandweer negatief adviseerde. De belangrijkste reden was dat het kasteel slechts één nooduitgang heeft, het vooral om nachtelijke opnames ging en het kasteel in feite een ruïne is, waardoor de veiligheid niet gegarandeerd kon worden. Uiteindelijk zijn de opnames dus nooit doorgegaan.
