De Hantes is een klein riviertje in het zuidwesten van de provincie Henegouwen. Het ontspringt in Froidchapelle, steekt dan even de Franse grens over om dan uiteindelijk in het Belgische Labuissière in de Samber uit te monden. Op haar loop liggen een aantal interessante plaatsjes. Het belangrijkste stadje is ongetwijfeld Beaumont, dat zoals de naam al aangeeft, op een 70 m hoge heuvel boven de Hantes ligt.
Waar de Hantes België terug binnenstroomt, gaat ze onder de 13 bogen tellende Pont Romain in Montignies-Saint-Christophe. Deze brug waarvan de Romeinse oorsprong weleens betwist wordt, ligt in de buurt van de oude heerbaan Bavay-Trier. Het vormt een schitterend geheel met de nabijgelegen Ferme du Moulin.
