Bij opgravingen in 1969 legde men een gedeelte van het sas en een stuk kaaimuur bloot van de Lieve, het vroegere kanaal tussen Gent en Damme. Boten mochten max. 4,5 m lang, 2,4 m breed zijn en een diepgang van 90 cm hebben.
Beschermd als monument (M.B. van 17/10/1997).
