De brug van Temse

Description

De brug die Temse en Bornem verbindt is een belangrijke verkeersweg én de verbinding tussen Oost-Vlaanderen en Antwerpen. De eerste brug (1870-1940) werd ontworpen door Gustav Eifel, maar werd tijdens WO II vernietigd. De nieuwe auto- en spoorwegbrug werd ingehuldigd in 1955. De brug is met haar 365 meter de langste metalen brug in België. De tweede Scheldebrug kwam er in 2009 als oplossing voor het toenemende autoverkeer op de N16. Ook fietsers en voetgangers raken nu veilig aan de overzijde.
