Het stuwmeer van de Vierre werd opgericht en in gebruik genomen in 1965. Vanuit het dorpje Suxy stroomt de Vierre naar het bassin waar het water dan afgeleid wordt voor de productie van hernieuwbare energie. De jaarlijkse energieproductie van dit complex is zo'n 8 miljoen kWh.
Het kunstmatige meer is 35ha groot met een diepte van maximaal 9m en vangt zo'n 1,5 miljoen kubieke meter water op. De stuwdam is met zijn lengte van 134m en 12m hoogte de tweede grootste stuwdam in België.
