Deze renaissancistische polderkerk (17de eeuw) werd gebouwd met matieraal van een oudere, meer oostwaarts gelegen kerk. De herlocalisatie van kerk én dorp (1649) was nodig na de aanleg van een dijk. De gevel is gerestaureerd en het interieur met een 18de-eeuws houten gewelf, is in restauratie. Pastoor Heldewijs (eerste helft 18de eeuw) leefde een tijd op de eerste verdieping van de toren, toen de pastorie was verkocht en hem nog geen andre woning ter beschikking stond.
De kerk in rennaissancestijl heeft een oosttoren, wat vrij uitzonderlijk is in deze streek.
