Het piepkleine Spaans Tolhuis was ooit de toegangspoort van een stevig fort. Dit bewaakte de oude sluis van Plassendale. Wachtlokaal voor Spaanse soldaten; woning van de commandant; tolkantoor; herberg; huis van de sasmeesters; een laatste aanleghaven voor oude binnenschippers: het kleine monument aan de waterkant heeft je heel wat te vertellen. Vandaag is het fiets-, wandel- en vaarstop, voor grote en kleine avonturiers met lichte honger of hevige dorst. Vierhonderd jaar sluizen, forten, kanongebulder, scheepvaart, bewoners en hun verhalen hebben er een plek aan het water. Je kunt er terecht binnen of op het groot tuinterras. Er worden ook kajaks verhuurd, waarmee je het kanaal kunt verkennen.
