Via de stadswallen en het station van Diest wandel je helemaal rond het vliegveld van Schaffen. Met wat geluk zie je enkele para’s aan hun parachute door de lucht zweven, want zij krijgen hier hun opleiding. Je komt voorbij het standbeeld van De Smid op het dorpsplein van Schaffen en de hoeve Schans van Rode. De Verloren Kostmolen is een baken in het landschap, die al sinds 1904 in Schaffen staat. Wijndomein Barenberg is slechts een extra ommetje, je kan het domein op afspraak bezoeken.
