Ooist was Vlaanderen een bayou zoals we die kennen in het zwoele Louisiana. Dat weten we omdat in de buurt van de Geosite Goudberg die we ook aandoen in deze wandeling fossiele moerascipressen aantroffen in een bruinkoollaag.

Dat was ongeveer 56 miljoen jaar geleden. De gemiddelde temperatuur was 30 °C. Het zou nooit meer zo warm wordne in deze streek. 

Geniet met een fris briesje van deze wandeling.
