De sage wil dat Keizer Karel de Grote (overleden 814) tijdens een jachtpartij overmand raakte door dorst. Door het opvliegen van een duif vond hij een bron. Uit dank aan God liet hij er in de buurt een kerk en een klooster bouwen. Daar bevindt zich nu Feuchtwangen. In het centrum vallen het marktplein en de gotische kloosterkerk op.
