De rooms-katholieke parochiekerk Sint Catharina is een herkenningspunt van de titulair stad Blankenberg bij Hennef.
De bouw begon in 1245; in dat jaar, toen Blankenberg stadsrechten kreeg, stichtten graaf Heinrich III. van Sayn en zijn vrouw, gravin Mechthild van Meißen-Landsberg, een abdij van pronster vrouwen binnen de stadswallen, die echter al snel na de oprichting door cisterciënzers werd bezet. De kloosterkerk werd, vermoedelijk na de voltooiing, in 1248 tot een zelfstandige parochiekerk verheven. Het klooster werd in 1265 naar Zissendorf verplaatst, het recht van benoeming aan de parochiekerk bleef tot in de 16e eeuw bij de abdis.
