Wetzendorf is een dorp in het noordelijke Burgenlandkreis aan de rechteroever van de Unstrut. Het strekt zich uit langs de oude wijnroute. Sinds 1957 is Wetzendorf een deelgemeente van de gemeente Karsdorf.
Het als straatdorp langs de oude wijnroute ontstane dorp werd in 1061 voor het eerst schriftelijk vermeld als Widesendorp, dat wil zeggen het dorp van een Widiso. Wetzendorf behoorde tot de heerlijkheid Wiehe en kwam in 1539 met deze heerlijkheid in handen van de heren van Werthern op Beichlingen. In het dorp bevond zich een riddergoed dat onder het gezag van de eigenaars van Nebra viel.
