De evangelisch-lutherse kerk St. Nicolai in Aue is een neogotische zaalkerk in het Saksische Erzgebirge en het hoogste gebouw van de stad.
Aue, waarvan de oorsprong in nauw verband staat met het in 1173 opgerichte klooster Zelle, werd voor het eerst in 1286 als eigen parochie genoemd en werd tot de Reformatie verzorgd door de Augustijner kanunniken. Het eerste kerkgebouw bevond zich op het vroegere kerkplein. Het uiterlijk of documenten zijn niet overgeleverd. In een visitatieprotocol uit 1544 worden twee zilveren en vergulde avondmaalsgelijken, twee zilveren hostieschotels, drie misgewaden en twee tinnen kannen als inventarisstukken vermeld. Van 1625 tot 1628 verving de kerkelijke gemeente het godshuis door een nieuw gebouw, dat ook financieel werd ondersteund door de Saksische keurvorst Johann Georg I. De omliggende kerkhof werd verplaatst naar de Schwarzenberger Straße.
