De Wembach ontspringt in het Teufelsrechgrund, ten zuidoosten van de Ober-Ramstädter wijk Rohrbach. Hij stroomt oostelijk langs het dorp Wembach, door Reinheim en mondt uit in de Gersprenz. Een deel van de Wembach voedt bij hoogwater de Langen Graben, die zich ten noorden van de Reinheimer vijver met de Dilsbach verenigt tot de Landwehrgraben, die na ongeveer één kilometer in de Gersprenz uitmondt.
De Wembach is een fijnmateriaalrijke, carbonatische middelgebergtebeek. De baarzenregio is zijn dominante visregio. Zijn bekken bedraagt 14,7 km² en zijn gemiddelde debiet is 114 l/s. Zijn ecologische toestand wordt als onbevredigend aangeduid.
