De etappe begint bij het centraal station in Cottbus. Het is een reis door de geschiedenis van de Lausitz van de 19e eeuw tot nu: visionaire landschapsarchitectuur van Fürst-Pückler in Branitz, actieve bruinkoolwinning en stroomopwekking in Jänschwalde, textielgeschiedenis in Forst (L.), het voormalige "Manchester van de Lausitz", landschapsvorming na de mijnbouw. Het historische cultuurlandschap van het Peitzer-vijvergebied en het idyllische rivierlandschap van de Neiße maken de fietstocht compleet.
