Het was het huis van Rodrigo de Bastidas, die de oprichter was van verschillende steden in Zuid-Amerika. Het gebouw van 3.000 vierkante meter is gebouwd rondom een rechthoekige centrale binnenplaats. Het huis beschikt over lange hallen die de binnenplaats verbinden door een veelheid aan Romeinse bogen. Meer dan een eeuw lang werd het huis bewoond door de nakomelingen van Rodrigo Bastidas, en daarna werd het gebruikt door verschillende overheidsinstellingen, waardoor het nu het Trampolijnmuseum voor kinderen in de Dominicaanse Republiek herbergt.
