De gemeente Schirrhoffen heeft een zeer rijke Joodse geschiedenis waar nu bijna niets meer van te zien is. In de 14de eeuw was hier de grootste Joodse gemeenschap van de regio Bas-Rhin. In 1841 was 71% van de bevolking van Schirrhoffen Joods. Echter 30 jaar later waren er slechts 37 Joden meer omdat de meeste verhuisd waren na de verschuiving van de grens. 75% van deze Joden stierven in de Nazi concentratiekampen. Slechts 2 keerden terug naar het dorp na de oorlog. De school en het kerkhof zijn de weinige stille relicten van deze rijek Joodse geschiedenis in het dorp.
