Elzas-Lotharingen is een gebied in het oosten van Frankrijk dat van 1871 tot 1918 tot het Duitse Keizerrijk behoorde. Van 1940 tot 1945 was het door nazi-Duitsland bezet. Het bestond uit de Elzas en het noorden van Lotharingen, dat zijn de huidige departementen Moselle, Bas-Rhin en Haut-Rhin.
De benaming Elzas-Lotharingen is wat verwarrend, omdat het grootste deel van Lotharingen, de Franse departementen Meurthe-et-Moselle, Meuse en Vosges, er vanaf 1871 niet toe behoorde. Alleen het Franse departement Moselle was tussen 1870 en 1919 als "Lothringen" deel van het Duitse Reichsland Elsaß-Lothringen. Daarom duidt de Franse overheid de drie departementen, die nog altijd een bijzonder statuut hebben, liever aan als Alsace-Moselle. Formeel werd het gebruik van de naam "Alsace-Lorraine" in 1920, na de wederinlijving bij Frankrijk, eerst nog verboden.
