Het Musée Alexandre Dumas is gehuisvest in een 19e-eeuws herenhuis en vertelt over het leven en werk van drie Dumas: generaal Thomas-Alexandre Dumas (1762-1806), zijn zoon Alexandre Dumas père (1802-1870), de illustere auteur van De drie musketiers, die in Villers-Cotterêts is geboren, en Alexandre Dumas fils (1824-1895), auteur van La Dame aux camélias.
Het museum herbergt veel originele documenten, waaronder autografe brieven, manuscripten, eerste en geïllustreerde edities, maar ook geschilderde, gegraveerde en gebeeldhouwde portretten.
