De permanente tentoonstelling "Portret van een stad, Figeac" biedt de sleutels voor een nieuwsgierig en gedetailleerd bezoek aan de stad. Een fries vertelt de duizendjarige geschiedenis van Figeac, terwijl maquettes en plattegronden het karakter van het terrein en het aanzicht van de stad tonen, eeuw na eeuw. Via thematische punten kunnen de bezoekers kennismaken met de inwoners, geestelijken, machthebbers, ambachtslieden of grote kooplieden, die hun huizen, bescheiden kraampjes of stadspaleizen presenteren. In de erfgoedzone worden ook tijdelijke tentoonstellingen gehouden.
