De Silent Pool is een meertje gevoed door een bron aan de zuidkaant van de North Downs. In deze buurt zijn er twee meren. De Silent Pool is het hoger gelegene van de twee. Het andere is genaamd Sherbourne Pond en is aangelegd in 1662.
De Silent Pool dateert van veel vroeger en wordt door sommigen als een heilige plek beschouwd. Het wordt gerelateerd aan een folkloristisch verhaal waarin verteld wordt dat Koning John op zijn paard een houthakkersdochter ontvoerde, haar in het water dwong en ze vervolgens verdronk. Ook volgens deze legende is het mogelijk de jonkvrouw te zien rond middernacht.
