Triëst ; Sloveens: Trst [tə̀ɾst, tə́ɾst]; Duits: Triest [tʁiˈɛst] ) is een stad en haven in het noordoosten van Italië. Het is de hoofdstad en de grootste stad van de autonome regio Friuli Venezia Giulia, een van de twee autonome regio's die niet zijn onderverdeeld in provincies.
Triëst ligt aan de monding van de Golf van Triëst, op een smalle strook Italiaans grondgebied tussen de Adriatische Zee en Slovenië; Slovenië ligt ongeveer 8 km ten oosten en 10–15 km ten zuidoosten van de stad, terwijl Kroatië ongeveer 30 km ten zuiden van de stad ligt.
