W2-4: PIAZZA MATTE & FONTANA DELLE TARTARUGHE (Schildpaddenfontein)
De Piazza Mattei is vernoemd naar een van de woningen van de gelijknamige familie, die we ook nog zullen aantreffen in de Piazza Piscinulla (W9-5). De toegangspoort op nummer 19 verbergt een prachtig middeleeuws binnenplein.
De schildpaddenfontein werd ingewijd in 1588 maar de schildpadjes zelf kwamen er pas een eeuw later ter vervanging van 4 dolfijnen.
