Het paleis werd gebouwd met middeleeuwse gebouwen, waarvan de pijlers en stenen van de bogen op de buitenmuren en die rond de binnenplaats nog te herkennen zijn. Aan de buitenkant staan verschillende wapenschilden, een van de gemeente Pisa en een van de Pia Casa di Misericordia.
Op de binnenplaats is een fragment te zien van een Grieks beeld op een sokkel, geschonken door Pietro Miniati in 1994.
