Dit isr de Drecht, een natuurlijk afvoerriviertje in het veenmoeras, waaraan Loos-drecht zijn naam dankt. Op de kaart is te zien dat de Drecht voor het ontstaan van de plassen een onondoorbroken rivier was. Het was een afwateringsrivier in het moerassige veengebied dat van Loosdrecht naar de Vecht stroomde.
Nog voordat u de open vlakte van de plassen bereikt, komt u langs Het Drechthuis van recreatiecentrum Mijnden. Hier kunt u even aanleggen en iets lekkers nuttigen op het mooie terras aan het water.
