Het Elisabeth Stift is een voormalig klooster, in 1877 gesticht door de Duitse zusters van de Orde der Elisabethinnen. Na de functie van ziekenhuis (het eerste van Kerkrade) en kleuterschool, richt ‘het Stift’ zich tegenwoordig op zorg voor senioren. Deze herontwikkeling kreeg landelijk veel aandacht en geldt als voorbeeld voor andere initiatieven
