Het rectoraat van de universiteit van Minho is gelegen aan het plein largo Do Paço.
Het voormalig aartsbisschoppelijk paleis huisvest de dienst. Het werd in de 14e eeuw gebouwd door aartsbisschop D. Fernando Guerra en werd in de 16e en 18e eeuw gerenoveerd. Het cassetteplafond in de leeszaal verdient een speciale vermelding, evenals de Castelos-fontein in de binnenplaats.
De Openbare Bibliotheek opereert in deze ruimte. Het grondplan heeft de vorm van een kruis en is voorzien van een zadeldak.
