Tijdens haar reis naar het zuiden in 1654 verbleef koningin Christina twee dagen op het kasteel in Halmstad. Hier, niet ver van de Deense grens, nam ze afscheid het grootste deel van haar gevolg, waaronder dominee Brodin, haar Lutherse predikant. Het koninklijke domein aan de oever van de Nissan-rivier bestaat nog steeds.
