The Park

The Park is the most famous park in Rotterdam, located west of the city center. The Park is situated between the Nieuwe Maas, the Parkhaven, the Westzeedijk, and the Scheepvaartkwartier. Along the park is the Parkkade. The Park does not have an official name but is known as The Park, possibly clarified as The Park near the Euromast, by the Maastunnel, or The Park in the West.

Over the years, many events have been held in the Park. The most well-known are the National Energy Manifestation 1955, the Floriade of 1960, during which the Euromast was built, Phenomena in 1985, and from 1977 to 2012 the annual Poetry Park, now the Dunya Festival. And since 1986, there has been the Day of Romantic Music every year. In the winter of 2012/2013, China Light was held in the Park, a Chinese light festival with light sculptures in various colors.
