Beech Grove

The legend of this building dates back to the year 1875. Construction began at the request of the de Moffaert family, who owned the hunting grounds around the chapel of Our Lady of the Beech Tree. Here, they could find a resting place with carriages and horses while the game was stored in the vaulted cellars to be sold later. The building was constructed in a typical school brick, which is a characteristic of all the buildings of the de Moffaert family, and even a brickworks was established here. Unfortunately, it no longer exists.

Under the vigilant eye of Our Lady of the Beech Tree, located in the chapel across the street dating back to 1640, trade was conducted here for many years.

As was allowed for every hamlet in Lummen, there was also a shooting guild established here, namely the Shooting Guild of the Chapel of Our Lady of the Beech Tree, which has now merged with the guild of Thiewinkel.

In the early 1970s, the building was rented out to Brewery Martens, which continued the inn's activities from the early 20th century.

In 1984, our family settled here and ran the business until we had the opportunity to purchase this property in 2000. After some beautification work, our establishment has been developed into an oasis of tranquility, where your taste buds will be thoroughly tested by the chef at the stove. While you enjoy the peace and calm amidst our private domain of about 10 hectares of nature, we would like to share our skills with you and wish you a blissful time to keep the tradition of it all alive.
