The Arabs built a fountain at a water source in the hamlet of Alqamah, which was described as early as 1154 .
A strong earthquake, which occurred at the end of the 14th century, appears to have damaged the fountain, which was subsequently rebuilt. With the transfer of urban life around the castle, an activity of sheep herding around the fountain arose, creating the need to build a drinking trough . The facade has two sinks, two water drains (cannoli) and pilasters surmounted by capitals. The trough, made of travertinoid calcarenite stones, was built in the first half of the 19th century.
