Orte è un comune italiano di 8 988 abitanti della provincia di Viterbo nel Lazio. È un nodo stradale e ferroviario situato sul crocevia nord-sud ed est-ovest del centro Italia.
Geograficamente nella Valle del Tevere, il territorio del comune di Orte è interessato da fenomeni di vulcanismo secondario. Le acque termali solfuree delle Capannelle e le solfatare intorno al Fosso della Penna ne sono le principali manifestazioni.
