Departure is at the Affligem Abbey Cultural Center. This abbey is one of the most important beacons of the region. It is the only Flemish Benedictine abbey that is still inhabited by Benedictines almost 1000 years after its foundation. At the foot of the abbey are still some hop fields that testify to the rich hop past of the region. The walk also takes you through the Doments Broek nature reserve and past the legendary Kluiskapel.
Choose sturdy walking shoes or boots, because it can get quite muddy.
