AzureThe Rubenspad starts at the Sint-Hubertuskerk in Elewijt, crosses the Tervuurseseteenweg to the Sint-Hubertusweg and then follows the well-signposted path along the Waversebaan, the tunnel under the E19 and further along the beautiful Steendreef to 't Steen where Pieter Pauwel Rubens stayed since 1635 with Helene Fourment, his second wife, and his family until his death in 1640. His stay in the countryside favored his art as a landscape painter. Many of his famous paintings are landscapes from Elewijt. The Rubenspad leads through beautiful protected landscape along the meandering Senne and the ruins of the Weerdse toll tower.
