Private castle that cannot be visited. Although in its current state, the Château de la Follie does not appear to be older than the beginning of the sixteenth century, certain walls, certain elements of the interior and especially the excavations carried out in 1928 to uncover the old moat of the castle, show that the sixteenth-century building was largely rebuilt on the foundations of a monument that preceded it by two centuries. At that time, the fortress of La Follie was flanked by four round towers with machicolations and battlements joined together by walls 3 meters thick, affecting a square shape that remains today. Surrounded by a moat and filled with water, its entrance was defended by a drawbridge. Important remains of this primitive fortress are still visible: the side facades of the castle, made up of walls in which there is sand and rubble, all of which are 3 metres wide, give us an idea of the thickness of the curtain walls.
