The city is one of the 6 largest cities/municipalities of Zeeland, alongside Middelburg, Vlissingen, Goes, Terneuzen, and Zierikzee.
Hulst is also called the Reynaert city because Hulst (Hulsterlo) is mentioned in the epic of the Fox Reynaerde. You can find the monument at the Ghent gate.
