EXAMPLE OF COURAGE AND SOLIDARITY

Three were the wrecks caused by ships colliding with the the Rock of the Port of Camelle: Yeoman (10/02/1904), Natalia (12/01/1915) and Boris Sheboldaef (20/08/1934).
The Russian tanker Boris Sheboldaef left Leningrad en route for Batún to load crude oil. The rough seas and thick fog made the rescue of the 41 crew members difficult, risking the lives of the sailors in the operation. For a year it was not possible to eat fish or seafood due to the remains of hydrocarbons. The sailors were rewarded with a special bonus for their heroic acts during the rescue.
 The captain was banished to Siberia because the Russian authorities did not understand how a boat equipped with an electrical sonar succumbed in such a way.
The thick fog, once again, caused the shipwreck of the Spanish steam Natalia as no reference points to position the ship and avoid the unfortunate accident could be seen. Once more, Camelle inhabitants took it upon themselves to avoid any loss of life, as with theEnglish ship Yeoman. The Yeoman fabrics ended up scattered all over the place and some were used for clothing by the people of Camelle.
