Along hundreds of curves, often at high altitude you go from the boutique hotel Aurora, Via dell'Apollinare 3, 06049 Spoleto PG, Italy to leave Umbria and finish via Lazio in the truly idyllic Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Abruzzo, Italy. Medieval village located 1250 meters from the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park. The vast natural beauty along the way but certainly also the still visible traces of the 2009 earthquake make you humble.

Tip: in the restaurant La Conca di Amatrice you obviously have to taste the spaghetti alla Matriciana prepared by the 85-year-old chef Claudio.

By the way, there is absolutely only one place where you can spend the night in the village and that is Sextantio, a hotel whose authentic preserved medieval rooms are spread over the whole village (sextantio.it/santostefano/abruzzo)
