Old pump - Wéris

At the foot of the rue du Broux, you can see a beautifully decorated cast iron water pump from the end of the 19th century , opposite a bluestone trough and a small body of water that served as a drinking trough for the cattle.

Before it was possible to water the cattle and horses in the stable or in the pasture , it was necessary to lead the herd to a place to drink several times a day . This was a tough and time consuming job.

In the villages that were too far from a river or pond, the animals had to quench their thirst at the provided drinking troughs (which were supplied from the nearest spring ).
