By the proclaimed Gnaeus Domitius Ahenobarbus, along with the first Roman colony in Gaul, today's Narbonne. The road was a strategically important connection. The road linked Italy with Spain. The track crossed the Via Aquitania, which led to the Atlantic Ocean, in Narbonne.
