Peter den Store har en statue i Bruxelles Warandepark, der minder om hans bemærkelsesværdige besøg i 1717. Under en fest drak han så meget vin, at han måtte kaste op i en fontæne, hvilket bruxelloiserne eviggjorde med en humoristisk tekst på fontænebassin.
Selve statuen blev i 1854 givet som gave af den russiske prins Antoli Demitov som erindring om dette historiske besøg.
Teksten på den oprindelige fontæne lyder: "Peter Alexiowitz, zar af Moskva, storhertug, siddende ved kanten af denne fontæne, har beriget vandet med den vin, han har drukket, den 16. april 1717, kl. tre om eftermiddagen". Selvom zaren var kendt for sine moderniseringsambitioner, bliver han husket i Bruxelles for sin udsvævende drikadfærd.
