You will walk almost an entire day through and near the Zoniën Forest, exploring the border between Flanders and the Brussels region on this forest and park walk. During this tour, you can repeatedly see how conservation areas, forests, and landscape parks almost seamlessly transition into living, working, and leisure spaces.
On this hike, you will traverse charming stream valleys, marshes, and ponds: all of this together forms an elongated nature reserve. You will explore the Tournay-Solvay Park with its neo-Renaissance castle and its famous rose garden. You can visit the artists' colony in the centuries-old Red Monastery. The Woluwedallaan and the Welriekende Dreef can now be viewed from a completely different perspective than from the traditional traffic jam. In spring, you can enjoy the delicate beauty of the buttercup, the wood anemones, and the lily of the valley. And the forest fauna also offers you some beautiful— even exotic— surprises: the Zoniën Forest is home not only to a small population of deer but also now to rose-ringed parakeets, red-eared sliders, and Korean meerkats.
