Piz Amalia

From the beautifully situated mountain village of Lü, the first 3¼ km with a height difference of 325 meters are a piece of cake. After 7½ km at the fork to Alp Praditschöl, with the information sign about Piz Amalia, head towards this pasture and then immediately left up the mountain slope, where a cow path is occasionally visible. From here the climb to the top is 2½ km long and you overcome 800 vertical meters. Looking up, keep walking on the right side of the stream, up to the vegetation line at 2,460 meters. Then keep left and at the end of the slope climb to the saddle point between Piz Mezdi and Piz Amalia. From the saddle point at 2,750 meters, cross the north ridge to the top of the Piz Amalia. In clear weather, you have a magnificent view of the Piz Sesvenna, Val Müstair, the Ortler massif in Italy and the Silvretta group in the border region of Austria and Switzerland. Follow the same route back. A lot of work is being done on signage to the top.
