Wat Nong Lanka is a large temple facing east and built outside the town wall in the Aranyik (forest) area in the 14th - 15th Century CE when Nakhon Chum was the centre of administration. It is enclosed with a ditch on four sides following the Lanka Wangsa Buddhist tradition. Buildings in the temple were arranged in a rectangular plan. The main chedi of bell shape in Sukhothai style was made of brick with niches on four sides. The principal chedi is composed of a base with three receding tiers in the form of an overturned and upturned lotus, a slender body of chedi in a bell shape, a square form representing a throne, layers of receding circular mouldings and tapering finial.
