Scheldeland was pre-eminently a region that played a leading role in the Great War. The rivers in the region were the backdrop for numerous battles. But also the defense lines that were built here are silent witnesses of a rich and impressive war past.
With main roles for the forts of Liezele and Bornem and the entrenchment of Puurs. The route also takes you past the picturesque villages of Sint-Amands, Mariekerke and Lippelo, unique historical heritage, beautiful views of the Scheldt and lots of greenery.
