Buhnenwerder

The island of Buhnenwerder is an island in the Beetzsee, which belongs to the city of Brandenburg an der Havel, opposite the village of Lünow. Since 1930, it has been designated as the seabird island Buhnenwerder as a nature reserve. On the island, there is a slight elevation called a hillfort. Due to archaeological finds, parts of the island are designated as a historical monument. In addition to Buhnenwerder in Beetzsee, there is another island with the same name within the territory of the city of Brandenburg, located between the Plauer, Breitling, and Mösers Lakes.
Buhnenwerder lies in the northern of the three basin lakes of the Beetzsee Rinnensee, which was historically also called Lünower or Bagower Lake. Like Beetzsee throughout its entire expanse, Buhnenwerder also belongs to the area of the independent city of Brandenburg. It has an area of about seven hectares, with a length of approximately 450 meters and a width of approximately 230 meters.
