Clenzer-Switzerland-Trail

A hike through geological history, that's a good way to describe the Clenzer-Schweiz trail. Once inhabited by the Slavs, this area was a forested and agriculturally used hilly landscape. The name of the Drawehn ridge also derives from their language, Drawänopolabisch. They called their homeland Drawehn, meaning "woodland" or "forest land." This hike includes small inclines passing by millennia-old large stone and hill graves and through deep pine forests. But the highlight of this hike was formed much earlier in geological history: the impressive glacial erratics in the Clenzer Schweiz Glacial Erratic Park. Here, you can experience the geological dimensions of the Drawehn under the motto "experience nature, understand geology." Nestled picturesquely on the eastern slope of Drawehn, massive glacial erratics as well as small stones are lined up. They bear witness to the formation of this landscape, with the oldest being about 2 billion years old. In the "Blue House" local museum in Clenze, you can learn fascinating facts about the recent history and life in the region over the past centuries.
