Portugal - from Porto to Lisbon

From Porto to Lisbon, along the Atlantic coast and avoiding the major routes. We leave Porto not without a small tasting stop... from Porto, across the Douro to Vilanova de Gaia, then we follow the coast to San Jacinto (nature reserve) where a ferry takes us to Aveiro, the Portuguese Venice. Next, Coimbra, one of the oldest university cities in the world, where students keep traditions alive. Heading towards Pombal and its "Manuelin" castle. Here are two famous stops.. Fatima and its sanctuary (the local Lourdes) then Batalha with its impressive monastery. If you're not a fan of "religious stuff," go straight from Pombal to Nazaré and its waves (you need to go to the lighthouse via the high town). Heading to São Martinho do Porto and its perfect bay. Then Foz de Arelho, still clinging to the coast. We circle the Lagoa d'Obidos to arrive at the beautiful fortified village of Obidos. Then to the peninsula of Baleal, the kingdom of surfing, before arriving at Peniche and its fortress overlooking the fishing port (take a tour of the peninsula to admire the Berlengas Islands). Heading south again, along the ocean, Ericeira, a beautiful white and blue village, where fishing boats are brought up on the cliff road and rays are dried on lines stretched across the windows!... and here we are in Sintra, the former holiday resort of princes! Climbing up to the castle… then the very pleasant Cascais and its marina via the coastal road highly appreciated by local bikers, watch out for the weekend, "Miguel Oliveira" is out!!.. All that's left is to reach Lisbon by the "Marginal," which runs along the mouth of the Teijo (Tagus)... Everywhere, fish and seafood tempt you with a plate!!.. And after 530km of pleasure, it's yours Lisboa.....but that's another story!
