The Scheldemeersen menroute starts at Bistro-Taverne De Klokke in Zulzeke (Kluisbergen). It takes us along the flat lakes of the Upper Scheldt with its many old and fish-rich Scheldt meanders. Along the way, the Koppenberg, known from the cycling monument 'Tour of Flanders', is a constant beacon in the landscape. Towards the end we get a taste of the real Flemish Ardennes with a not too steep climb to Kapel Ter Boeker, the highest point on this route. On the way we visit the villages of Zulzeke and Melden. Oudenaarde and Berchem (Kluisbergen) are not far away.
