Beer distilleries Dekoninck

Two beer distilleries with the name Dekoninck were active in Dworp: BIERSTEKERIJ DEKONINCK GEBROEDERS and BIERSTEKERIJ J. DEKONINCK & PROOST. The first beer trade was a continuation of the activities of progenitor Gregorius Dekoninck. The second, a business founded by Gregory's youngest son and separate from the first. The beer trade Dekoninck Gebroeders was founded by Gregorius Josephus Dekoninck, a brewer's guest who had learned his trade in the brewery den Bisschop, later the brewery Van Haelen Gebroeders. They ran inn "De Ster" which was located on the Vroenenbos in Dworp. The two sons, Henri and Jozef, further expanded the beer trade under the name Dekoninck Gebroeders. In 1972 they took over the beer trade Winderickx. Beer shop Dekoninck still exists and is now located along the canal in Buizingen.
